Get Help. Get Sorted. – A Community Coming Together
What a fantastic afternoon of connection, support and community!
On Saturday, 8 August, Get Help. Get Sorted. brought our community together at Te Pae o Kura, 126 Awaroa Road, Sunnyvale, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and to the many people who gave their time, energy and support to make the event such a success. Your generosity and serving hearts helped create a welcoming and positive experience for individuals, families and whānau across our community.
Hosted by Ngā Tāngata Microfinance and Henderson Budget Service, the event brought together 15 community providers, showcasing a wide range of services and support available to help people navigate financial, wellbeing, employment, housing and other challenges.
A Day of Connection and Community
The response from the community was fantastic, with more than 200 people attending throughout the afternoon.
Some of the highlights included:
- 167 event entry giveaway tickets issued to adults.
- 87 completed Passport Challenge cards entered into the draw to win a Samsung Smart TV, proudly sponsored by Mercury.
- 50+ face paintings completed throughout the afternoon – including a few of us who are young at heart! 😊
- 15 community providers coming together to share information, advice and support. Providers: Mercury Energy, The Fono, Utilities Disputes, Vision West, Salvation Army, Good Shepherd New Zealand, EcoMatters, Your Generation, ASB Bank and Massey Matters.
- Supporters: The Hotel Britomart
It was wonderful to see people engaging with providers, asking questions, connecting with services, taking part in activities and discovering the support available within their local community.
Showcasing the Power of Financial Capability
We were also delighted to welcome Retirement Commissioner David Boyle to the event.
His visit provided a valuable opportunity to showcase the positive impact that financial capability initiatives can have in our communities and to share more about the work of Ngā Tāngata Microfinance.
Financial wellbeing is about more than numbers. It is about having the knowledge, confidence and support to make informed decisions, manage challenges and build a stronger financial future.
Events like Get Help. Get Sorted. demonstrate what is possible when community organisations, government agencies, businesses and service providers come together with a shared purpose.
Thank You to Our Community
A huge ngā mihi to all our providers, supporters, sponsors, volunteers, staff and everyone who helped make the day possible.
Most importantly, thank you to the individuals, families and whānau who came along, participated and connected with the services on offer.
We are proud of what we achieved together and incredibly grateful for the spirit of collaboration that made Get Help. Get Sorted. such a memorable day.
Together, we can help our community get help, get sorted and move forward with confidence.
Ngā mihi nui,
Ngā Tāngata Microfinance & Henderson Budget Service
