Ngā Tāngata Microfinance is a non-profit organisation committed to helping low-income Kiwis get better at managing their finances. If you’re looking for budget advice, we can pair you with a financial mentor. They’ll offer money management guidance and tricks to help you avoid tight spots in the future. We also offer small, fee-free loans to help kickstart your new budget on the right foot.

We offer 2 small loans:

GetControl

Debt Relief Loan

  • You can borrow up to $3,000 to pay off high-interest loans you already have
  • You have up to 2 years to pay it back
  • You pay the loan back with no interest or fees
  • You work with a financial mentor to look at how you’ll make the repayments and learn how to get ahead financially

GetAhead

Asset Building Loan

  • You can borrow up to $2,000 to pay for an essential item such as a fridge, school fees, or medical fees (car purchases aren’t covered)
  • You have up to 2 years to pay it back
  • You can pay the loan back with no interest or fees
  • You work with a financial mentor to look at how you’ll make the repayments and learn how to get ahead financially
