2025 Annual Report – Celebrating 15 Years of Partnership with Kiwibank
On Thursday, General Manager Vijay Farley-Naiker, Board Chair Racheal Monks, and our Trustees proudly hosted the Ngā Tāngata Microfinance Annual General Meeting, marking 15 years of partnership with Kiwibank and our shared commitment to creating fair, safe, and empowering financial pathways for whānau across Aotearoa.
We begin by acknowledging the incredible mahi of our whānau, board, and partners. Each playing a vital role in driving our kaupapa forward and uplifting our communities, one step at a time.
A heartfelt thank you to Kiwibank, Booster Foundation, Foundation North, the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), and all our private donors. Your continued support makes our work possible and amplifies the impact we create together.
Founded by Dr M. Claire Dale, Ngā Tāngata Microfinance was built on a clear vision: to empower people who face barriers to traditional financial systems. For us, finance has never been just about numbers. It’s about creating opportunity, building resilience, and fostering independence. While much progress has been made, many still face challenges, and we remain steadfast in our mission to make a real, lasting difference.
We were honoured to receive MoneyHub’s Editor’s Choice Award for Favourite Money Management Service at the 2025 Business Summit.
Over the past year, our achievements include:
- 233 applications received through our Financial Mentor network, with 62 percent approved, resulting in 147 loans totalling $475,746.
- Our My Money Kete programme now supporting 4133 members through workshops, our Facebook community, workbooks, and My Money Chats.
Financial Mentor Hui will begin in mid-January to train new mentors and share insights on any changes.
With the collective strength of our board, team, and community, we’re confident we’ll continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
Ngā Tāngata means “for the people” in te reo Māori and this sits at the heart of all we do. We remain committed to leading with care, empathy, and social responsibility, ensuring our mahi continues to uplift whānau and strengthen communities across Aotearoa.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for walking this journey alongside us.
